BERLIN FASHION WEEK

FASHION SHOWS

Fashion shows, exhibitions, trade shows and plenty of events attracted internationally acclaimed designers, reviewers as well as fashion enthusiasts to the fashion metropolis of Berlin. The Bread and Butter fashion fair was among our favourite, 600 exhibitors showing everyday fashion! The Premium at Gleisdreieck and the Mercedes Benz fashion week was the icing of the cake! The catwalk colours where bright and we were reminded how the colour palette for next season was as well as the trends. Graphics, monochromatic fashion, flower bed, colour, silk graphic scarves for both men and women, men’s fashion from 2 500designers all over the world. Metal patterned eyewear and shoes provided a chic wink to the futurist trend. All in all, the storyline for Berlin fashion week was futurist classic.

THE FASHION TRADE SHOWS

Themed “if you do it right, it will last forever”, design, contemporary fashion and accessories is what the ETHNICALLY fashion show International trade fair is all about, for eco-fair street and casual wear. I particularly felt Bread and butter was my cloud 9, whereas the International Premium trade show in simple terms was a place where brands meet.20130409_standbild_712x400_jpg_712x400_crop_q85tom_jpg_706x400_crop_upscale_q85

In many ways, Africa can and must be regarded as an equal partner in the creative sector by now. Africa Fashion Day Berlin is an excellent example for this development. It is perfectly suited to demonstrate Africa’s growing self-awareness and presence on the world stage.” far left: Beatrice Angut Oola, founder of Africa Fashion Day Berlin, said, “We are becoming global. Germany Land of IDEAS and INNOVATION BERLIN

They created a whole living room, a family room, from light bulb, to the PC, the LCD, to the fan its no doubt that Berlin is such an inspirational city. From beautiful architectural that form their way into clothes to mouth-watering dishes that represent a perfect ingredient from each country.Though some buildings looks dilapidated, they add a certain ancient look and some strength as part of the city’s art and tourist attraction. Nonetheless, just inhaling Berlin air, gives one inspiration in small doses.

THE MUSIC

i ARRIVED IN berlin, FROM THE AIRPORT TO THE HOTEL, the driver turned on KISS FM. I didnt think id hear a hip hop song nor rnb song, KISS FM played Daft Punk and Pharrell Williams. This song will forever remind me of Berlin is “Get lucky”. What an appropriate song title. It PLAYED IN EVERY i hopped onto, plus Pharrell Williams was in BERLIN for the MERCEDES-BENZ fashion week. How perfect?? :)!

I explored my own creative identity while integrating art and culture, fashion and textile knowledge, material testing & visualization media relations, art direction, innovation and creative techniques, trends, branding, creative entrepreneurship and sustainability all in one. This trip has helped me gain practical skills in developing Botswana’s own fashion industry. It has also exposed me to an in-depth knowledge of trade, collaborating, coordinating, visualization of new fashion designs, patterns and accessories.

Given my commitment to advocating for confidence building, fashion and being part of a highly respectable fashion consultants personnel in Botswana, GaTsh Fros, i am encouraged to provide efficient and developed information in all fields of fashion and culture for Botswana.

This trip gave me a whole new perspective towards business, work, fashion and my life in general. From today onwards, it is my secret ingredient. Only I know what to do from now onwards AND give Botswana fashion a wink of confidence.
